EMPYREAN
Trustworthy, Cognitive and AI-Driven Collaborative Associations of IoT Devices and Edge Resources
Associations of IoT devices, edge and cloud resources for efficient data processing and storage
Collaborations between IoT devices, edge and cloud resources can enhance efficiency, availability, flexibility and security. The EU-funded EMPYREAN project aims to establish Associations, a hyper-distributed computing paradigm, by leveraging collaborative, heterogeneous IoT devices and federated computing and storage resources that may belong to different users. Associations will be seamlessly interconnected via AI-enabled decision-making, leading to optimised resource utilisation, while data and resource access will be tightly controlled to ensure confidentiality. EMPYREAN will focus on developing technologies for efficient AI workload data processing, secure distributed edge storage, and native application development. It will also offer open and standardised APIs, using, extending and developing open-source software. EMPYREAN’s capabilities will be demonstrated through three use cases: advanced manufacturing, smart agriculture and warehouse automation.
